What do we believe?

What do we believe?

Zion Reformed Church is a Christ-loving, friendly congregation of the oldest Protestant Church in the United States, the Reformed Church in America, established in 1628.

The name Reformed means reformed according to the Word of God. We believe that the Bible is the only rule of faith and practice, and it is the inspired and infallible Word of God. We teach the sovereignty of God and believe in the holy deity of God's son, Jesus Christ; His miraculous birth, perfect live, atoning death on the cross, bodily resurrection from the dead, and His second coming in the future. We also believe in God's Holy Spriit through Christ that comforts us always.

Those uniting with Christ's Church here at Zion Reformed do so by professing a personal faith relationship with Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. They share their profession of faith in Christ in their willingness to love, obey and serve Christ in every way possible. We welcome those of kindred Christian faith and Spirit into this Christian fellowship.

We affirm our faith in Jesus Christ as described in the:

  • Apostle's Creed
  • The Nicene Creed
  • The Athanasian Creed

We explain our faith by using the following Standards/Confessions:

  • The Heidelberg Catechism
  • The Belgic Confession
  • The Canons of Dort
  • Confession of Belhar
